Local leaders Sam Farr, John Leopold, and Felipe Hernandez join community members to share their vision for transforming transportation in Santa Cruz County. This video announces the launch of Coast Connect, a community-based vision for a modern and efficient transportation system in Santa Cruz County that is environmentally sustainable and accessible to all.

Coast Connect envisions a system for Santa Cruz County and beyond that maximizes mobility and car-free travel options throughout the county, utilizing innovative passenger rail technology, an expansive and safe trail network, and integrated options for reaching final destinations via METRO buses, bicycling, walking and ride sharing. The existing 32-mile rail corridor, which is community-owned, will serve as the backbone of the transportation system. The corridor is located within one mile of half the county’s population, as well as 44 schools and 92 parks. At the core of the Coast Connect campaign are guiding principles based on the concept, “People, Planet, Prosperity.”
